Paint Brushes
Since we already mentioned it, we’ll say it again. Your Favorite Furniture Painter will love a new paint brush. Dixie Belle Paint Company carries several shapes and sizes. The medium-sized Dixie Belle Paint Brush is my favorite right now for blending colors on my painted furniture projects.)
2. Sample-size Paint
Paint brushes and paint go together like cookies and milk… like Rudolph and his red nose … like Santa and his jolly laugh. Most paint brands offer sample sizes around $10 each. Our favorite is Dixie Belle Paint, the no-VOC chalk/mineral paint we sell at our store, All Things New Again in Leesburg, VA. Dixie Belle offers 60 gorgeous colors … enough to fill a few stockings with colorful Christmas cheer!
3. Baby Unicorns
Obviously, a real-life Baby Unicorn would not fit in a stocking. (You would need to tie a bow around its horn and put it under the tree!) 🙂
We’re talking about Unicorn SPiT rainbow gel stain and glaze. The 4 ounce sample-size “Baby Unicorns” are the perfect size to stuff into a stocking for your Favorite Furniture Painter.
Unicorn SPiT is a versatile product that can be used as a wood stain, a glaze over paint or to create beautiful designs on furniture makeovers and more.
We sell Unicorn SPiT here at All Things New Again and teach the only Intro to Unicorn SPiT Class in the Northern Virginia/metro DC area. Here’s a link to our online store along with several tutorials to get you started using this awesome new creative juice.
4. Decoupage Paper
We are obsessed with Decoupage Paper around here! Your Favorite Furniture Painter will be decoupaging everything in sight too when they see all of these pretty designs.
5. Scrubby Soap
These all-natural, wonderful-smelling soaps have a scrubber built-in. They are great for washing (and moisturizing!) hands as well as cleaning paint brushes. Did I already mention they smell wonderful?
6. Blue Sponge Applicators
Use them to apply Gator Hide or any water-based liquid top coat for a smooooooth finish.
Makes top coat application quick, easy and darn near flawless.
We did a demo on how to use the blue sponges on Furniture Painting Friday, our free mini painting lesson held every Friday at 12 noon (eastern) over on our All Things New Again Facebook page. Here’s the re-play so you can see how easy they are to use. The Blue Sponge Demo starts around the 24-minute mark.
7. Sandpaper
Your Favorite Furniture Painter probably owns a sander already.
[If not, check out our 15 Awesome Gift Ideas for Your Favorite Furniture Painter for suggestions.]
A sander is a must-have tool for any furniture painter—and any furniture painter could always use more sandpaper. We burn through a lot of it around here! Sanders come in different shapes so check to make sure the sandpaper is cut to fit their machine properly.
8. Dust Mask
Protect your Favorite Furniture Painter’s lungs with a dust mask to use when sanding. Even if they have a dust mask already, they would probably appreciate a fresh one.
9. Stencils
You can pick up stencils at the craft store. Dixie Belle Paint also offers a nice selection of stencils on their website. Throw in a jar of Dixie Belle Mud and a spatula—boom!—your Favorite Furniture Painter can experiment with raised stencils, which are a really popular look on painted furniture right now.
10. Re-usable Furniture Sliders
My Dad and I use furniture sliders all the time to move furniture around our shop. They are really helpful little thingies–and they fit nicely in a stocking.
