Birthday Parties, Paint Workshops, An Antique Dresser, A Paint Sale, and A New How-To Video—Whew! June Is A Busy Month for Us!

June is a busy and fun month for our family.

We have our granddaughter Carleigh Q’s 3rd birthday on June 15 and then a Double Birthday Bonanza on the 26th when our other granddaughter Claire Bear turns 5 and Dave turns … well, let’s just say he’s been around a lot longer than the girls!

Dave really enjoys sharing his birthday with our oldest grandchild. He was such a good sport about their Caillou-themed birthday last year and he’s really looking forward to the big Princess Sofia birthday bash being planned for this year!

June is also a busy and fun month here at All Things New Again in Leesburg.

potting chairWe have a full schedule of workshops starting with our Create-A-Potting-Chair Workshop coming up THIS SATURDAY, June 7 from 10 am to 12 noon.

It’s not too late to sign up!

The cost is $55, which includes the chair, pots and everything you need to create a Pinterest-inspired planter like this one for your yard along with instruction on how to layer two colors of paint for a stunning look.

You just need to stop by the nursery on your way home from our workshop and pick up some plants for it!

We have also scheduled two separate Mason Jar Mania workshops. The first one is next Tuesday, June 10 and the other one is on Tuesday, July 8 from 7 to 9 pm on both nights. The cost is $19 and includes everything you need to paint three mason jars. Have you noticed that mason jars are everywhere right now? We created a new Pinterest board called All Things: Mason Jars to provide you with some inspiration on things to do with the pretty mason jars you paint at our workshops. Here’s the link.

parchmenttable_wideshotIt’s PYOP on Saturday, June 14. That’s our Paint Your Own Piece furniture workshop from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. You bring in a small piece of furniture like the table pictured here. We will work with you to transform it into something beautiful. No prior painting experience is necessary. However, if you have been painting for a while and want to learn some new advanced techniques, this is also a fun workshop for you. We keep class sizes small so we can offer individualized attention. The cost is $99.

PAINTPARTYAnd don’t forget about our weekly Paint Parties every Thursday night from 7 to 9 pm. The cost is $35 and includes all of the paint and supplies you use during your time in our studio. While this isn’t a formal class, we are available to answer questions and offer advice. This is a great opportunity to experiment with lots of colors without the expense of purchasing paint.

PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT have Paint Parties on June 26 because of our birthday party OR on June 19 because we will be on the road seeking treasure!

That’s right. We are heading down to North Carolina with Courtney, G and Joey for the US 301 Endless Yard Sale. This is our first time for the North Carolina event, but after traveling to Kentucky and Tennessee for the Worlds Longest Yard Sale last summer, we just couldn’t pass up this opportunity for two full days of treasure hunting a little closer to home. We will be posting updates from the road on our Facebook page so please stop by and like us if you haven’t already. Our road trips are a lot of fun!

Our shop in Leesburg will be open our regular hours of 10 to 5 on Friday, June 20 and Saturday, June 21 thanks to our friend Pat who will be working for us while we are away.

The woodgrain was so pretty on this antique dresser and mirror that even I couldn't bear to paint over it! We restored the wood on the drawers and top then painted the frame and mirror with American Paint Company's "Dollar Bill", a soft, neutral grayish-green. $599

Is that everything?

NO! There’s more!

I almost forgot to tell you about our Color of the Month sale. Each month we pick a different American Paint Company color to offer discounts on paint and select furniture pieces painted in that color.

June’s Color of the Month is

We like this color so much, we made a Pinterest board featuring projects from around the country to give you a little extra inspiration. Here’s the link.

One more huge piece of news …

We launched our first how-to video on YouTube this week!

In the video, Courtney demonstrates how to paint a chalkboard chair using American Paint Company’s all natural clay chalk and mineral paints. Our plan is to produce a new how-to video each month. We have a lot of ideas floating around, but if there is a specific project or technique you would like us to feature, please let us know … and please share our YouTube channel with your friends.

Whew! I think that’s all of our news for the month of June. Didn’t I tell you it was busy?

We are really looking forward to this summer. We have a lot going on at the shop, but we are also looking forward to a lot of fun summertime adventures with our grandchildren.

We hope you and your family have a wonderful summer too!

~ Cathy
