I painted a lot of furniture in 2019! It was a great year for being creative and trying out new painting techniques and products. (Actually, every year is great for that!) Before this year wraps up and I’m on to new projects, I thought it would be fun to take a look back at a few of my favorite 2019 painted furniture projects.

5. Jewelry Armoire with Raised Stencils
I’m usually so busy painting furniture for our store All Things New Again that I hardly ever have time to paint something for ME. I’ve had this jewelry armoire since I was a teenager. It needed an update! I used Dixie Belle Paint Company’s Dixie Mud to create the raised stencils and dangly earrings for the hardware. Here’s a link to my tutorial.

4. Red Buffet with the Ruby Rose Transfer
Sometimes you just have to paint something red! Dixie Belle’s Barn Red is my go-to red for creating dramatic, yet elegant statement pieces. I also used Dixie Belle’s Van Dyke Brown Glaze and Gold Gilding Wax around the edges of this piece to give it more depth and highlight those glorious details.

My favorite thing about this small red buffet is the ReDesign with Prima’s furniture transfer called Ruby Rose dancing across the top. Here’s a link to my tutorial.

3. Mary Ann’s Glam Peek-a-boo Gold Dresser
We love working with our customers to make your Pinterest dreams come true. Mary Ann sent me a photo she found online and asked if I could re-create the look on her old dresser. Of course, I could! This project was so much fun.

I started with a base coat of Dixie Belle’s metallic gold. The blue is called Deep Sapphire by the Real Milk Paint Company, the all-natural milk paint line we sell at the shop. Milk paint is perfect for creating a multi-layered distressed look like this because it melts away beautifully simply using a baby wipe to distress.
The knobs Mary Ann found on Etsy are the perfect finishing touch. This dresser looks beautiful in her home!

2. Moonshine Metallic Bar Cart
I found an old bar cart at my church’s annual yard sale around the same time Dixie Belle Paint Company announced their new line of Moonshine Metallics paints. It was perfect timing — and a perfect match!

It was also a perfect match for my dining room! I thought about keeping the bar cart. Instead, I wrapped it up carefully, drove it out to Leesburg and even made a price tag for it at the store. Then my mom saw the bar cart and said, “You should take that home. It’s perfect for your dining room.”
So I did! I love it!
P.S. — The color is Steel Magnolia.
1. Black and White Buffet
This Bassett buffet was the last piece I painted in 2019 — and it is my favorite 2019 painted furniture project!

I painted the base in Dixie Belle’s Fluff, then used Best Dang Wax in Black for shading around the edges. The top is stained with Dixie Belle’s No Pain Gel Stain in one of their new colors for 2019 called Colonial Black.

Here’s a video tutorial I did over in our All Things New Again Artisans Group. (It’s a free Facebook group and lots of fun. You are welcome to join!)
The best part of this buffet is the surprise inside … a ReDesign with Prima furniture transfer on the interior drawer fronts.
