Navy blue furniture is the little black dress of decorating.
Glammed up with metallic accents or dressed down with more rustic decor, navy blue furniture is classic and versatile. A stunning piece of navy blue furniture can be the focal point of your room or a neutral backdrop for other furnishings.
However you incorporate navy blue furniture into your home, its look is timeless.
Here are two recent navy blue furniture projects painted by Cathy here at All Things New Again in Leesburg, Virginia. She used different product lines to evoke distinctive moods on each piece — with beautiful results. Both of these looks can easily be re-created on your next furniture painting project.

Navy Blue Furniture – Glamorous with Copper Details
This post contains affiliate links for your navy blue furniture painting convenience.

Originally from Germany, the buffet is solid, sturdy and sparkling with stunning details that Cathy accentuated with shimmery copper.
First, she chose an elegant blue color called In the Navy from Dixie Belle Paint Company, the no-VOC chalk/mineral paint we sell at the shop.
Here’s our Dixie Belle Paint affiliate link if you want to create the look.
The color alone makes you say Wow … but she didn’t stop there.
Next, she blended more In the Navy and black together across the top for a subtle textured look and sealed with Gator Hide for durable protection.

For the finishing touch, she highlighted all of those amazing details with Dixie Belle’s Copper Gilding Wax.

Look! Tucked inside the buffet is pull-out shelving — perfect extra serving space for your next dinner party. I think that is my favorite feature of this piece.

This glamorous navy blue buffet is available for sale here at All Things New Again in Leesburg, Virginia. SOLD! We deliver our furniture throughout Northern Virginia/metro DC and ship nationwide.

Navy Blue Furniture — Beautiful with Big Red Blooms

Here’s another piece of navy blue furniture Cathy painted recently. She went for an entirely different look on this vintage Dixie dresser.
The color is Navy Blue from Real Milk Paint Company, the all-natural, eco-friendly line of milk paint we sell at the store. Milk paint comes in powder form. You mix it with water to make the paint, just like making a cup of chocolate milk.
Our next Intro to Milk Paint Class is March 24. Click here for details.
One of the most beautiful properties of milk paint is how gradient shades of the color appear across the surface you painted. Milk paint effortlessly gives your furniture richness and depth that you have to work harder to create with other types of paint.

For the top, she sanded down to bare wood and stained a dark walnut.

The focal point of this navy blue furniture is the vivid red blooms across the front. They look hand-painted, but the design is actually a transfer by Redesign with Prima. We’ve been trying out these furniture transfers on a few pieces lately–and we love them!
In fact, we love them so much that All Things New Again is now an official retailer for Redesign with Prima! We are really excited to be bringing this beautiful product line to the shop and to our online store soon. (We also have a few ideas in the works for in-studio workshops later this year.)

No fashionable wardrobe is complete without a little black dress (or two!) hanging in the closet. A piece of navy blue furniture graces your home the same way.
However, you incorporate navy blue furniture into your home, its timeless style is sure to look beautiful for years to come.
