Storage Ideas: January Upcycle Sharin’ Challenge

Storage ideas are on my mind every January as I’m in full Organize Everything In My Home/ My Life Mode! What better place to look for creative storage ideas than the awesome community in the Upcycle Sharin’ Facebook group?

Storage Ideas from All Things New Again

I thought I would share one of my favorite upcycle storage ideas. This is my dad’s project. He scored a bunch of U.S. Army artillery boxes from the 1970’s and up cycled them into storage benches and man cave coffee tables.

Designed to haul two artillery shells weighing more than 50 pounds apiece, needless to say these boxes are sturdy!

My dad cut holes in the bottom of each box and attached 4 x 4 inch post sections for the legs. He then painted them in a variety of colors.

You don’t need authentic U.S. Army artillery boxes for this project. Any sturdy wooden box can be up cycled into a storage bench or table simply by adding legs.

My dad’s creations can be used as a little coffee table that opens up to store TV remotes, video game consoles, reading materials, even snacks. Or they can be used as benches. They are the perfect size to tuck into an entryway or foyer. You can store your shoes inside and have a spot to sit down and put them on. There are so many storage ideas for a little box on legs like these!
