Dear Friends,
We wanted to let you know that Dave and I will be closing the shop at the end of the year.
“That’s so sad,” a customer said on Saturday when I told her the news.
No! It’s not sad for us. It’s just time for something new.
We started woodworking as a hobby in the 1980’s and soon our hobby transformed into a business. We sold our handcrafted items at craft shows almost every weekend throughout the 1990’s, but my dream was always to open a little store of my own.
That dream came true in 1998 when we purchased this little white house in Leesburg and transformed it into Sawdust Specialties, a craft and gift store featuring the work of 50+ talented artisans. We transformed once again in 2013 as All Things New Again, a boutique furniture store and paint studio. It’s hard to believe we’ve been here at the shop for 23 years!
I am really proud of the business we created. We made it through a lot of ups and downs.
And we made a lot of wonderful friends here along the way.
To everyone who has supported our shop through the years, I would like to say THANK YOU!
Our store never would have made it this long without you — and it certainly would not have been as much fun. We always say we have the best customers in the world. Because we do.
We have given this decision a lot of thought and a lot of prayer.
Letting go isn’t easy, but it is time.
The shop will continue to be open Friday and Saturday from 10 to 5 from now until the end of December.
To celebrate the store closing, we have marked ALL CHRISTMAS DECOR 50% OFF.
So come on down and stock up! There is still a lot of good stuff here that will look beautiful in your home or make a nice gift for someone special.
The property will go on the market in January. If you’ve been dreaming of a little shop of your own (or you know somebody who has), this might be the opportunity you have been waiting for! The location is perfect — high visibility and on-site parking — plus I’m sure all the positive energy we have enjoyed here for 23 years will convey. It really is a wonderful place.

Dave and I are slowing down, but we are not going away completely. I can’t imagine a retirement where we just sit around all day.
I still have furniture to paint …
… and an art studio at home we are building … a waiting list of custom furniture painting clients … and grandchildren to play with!
We will still be doing what we love–making all things new again.
We’ll just be doing it from home, selling our furniture online instead of at the shop every weekend. It’s one more transformation of a business we have been creating and re-creating for almost 40 years now.
No, it’s not sad. It’s simply time for something new.
Love,
Cathy
